Chia Seeds
Salvia hispanica · black chiaBibhakar Spices supplies chia seeds grown in Karnataka, India, where chia was introduced to farmers by the Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) in Mysuru. The seeds are cleaned and packed in Ghaziabad in PET jars from 10 g to 500 g, bulk bags or under your own label, for retail, bakery and health-food brands.
Indian chia from Karnataka
Chia is native to Central America. In India, CFTRI researchers began growing it in 2012 and released seed to farmers in 2014; since then Mysuru and nearby districts of Karnataka have become India’s main chia-growing area. It is sown after the monsoon and harvested by early spring.
Our chia comes from Karnataka and is cleaned to remove dust and foreign seeds before packing.
