Cumin from the dry fields of Rajasthan
India is the world’s largest producer of cumin, and almost all of it grows in two dry western states, Rajasthan and Gujarat. The crop is sown in winter and harvested in early spring, when the dry desert climate suits the seed.
Export cumin is traded by purity: Singapore quality (99%) for most markets and Europe quality (99.5%, double-cleaned) for the EU, UK, USA and Australia.
